The St. John John Street Housing Complex is designed to bring urban villages to downtown San Jose. The full building rises 46 feet above the sidewalk, but the complex is stepped down so that the roofs on the west wing only rise three stories. This provides a smooth transition to surrounding single-family residences. In just 0.38 acres, the project brings 46 multi-family rental units to an area that sorely needs it. 14 units are restricted to affordable housing at or below the moderate income level.
